We are currently pricing “at cost” in order to get established. Cattle market prices are at an all-time high. Grass, hay, and labor costs are not included here.

INPUT COSTS

Our cost is ~$3500 per animal.

Calves around 6 months old are selling for ~$2000 (for example, based on local Cattle Market Report pasted below). This is a market price for quality commercial beef of unknown pedigree and does not include a premium for the Wagyu-Angus bloodline.

Feed purchased from Livestock Nutrition Center has been about $1465+ per head. Purchased feed is required to fatten for 12-18 months.

PROCESSING COSTS (estimate)

$120 + $1.00/lb hanging weight USDA labeled

For the 1400# example, processing would cost roughly $1000

WSJ article May 9, 2025

In January, the Agriculture Department reported the total cattle herd in the U.S. is 86.7 million head. That is the lowest since 1951, according to USDA data. The agency will update its outlook in July. Tthe low cattle inventory makes animals harder to come by, making prices for them rise.
